Conference 2010
The term "creative city" was first used in 1995 by Charles Landry and Franco Bianchini. The concept of the creative city, or broadly conceived “creative economy”, was brought to the general attention as late as in the new millennium, particularly in the context of slightly provocative works of Richard Florida.
The creative city is a place where it is easy to live, to work, to create and to spend leisure time. Is Brno a creative city? Definitely it is! And what could be done to support the Creative Brno? Answer to this question will be searched with a help of foreign and Czech experts and local creative people.
Our aim is to:
- highlight importance of creativity (and the creative industries) and its impact on urban development,
- present examples of creative centers abroad and see what other cities are doing to support creativity,
- present tools to promote creative industries on national and European level,
- introduce local stakeholders in the fields of creativity and innovation and enable creative people to meet.
